Sun Microsoft^H^H^Hystems

I bought a blade 100 which came pre-installed with Solaris 8.

Recently, I also purchased some fiber storage so that I could
get a SAN running here at home. I hope that will help me to understand
a lot of the intricasies of designing a SAN.

I had taken the ES 475 train-the-trainer class a few months ago in
Chicago, and a lot of the exercises didn't work well for us in class.
There were dozens of patches to be installed, and you had to have a
very current version of Solaris 8 - 04/01 or later.

You guessed it - my blade did not come with 04/01 or later. I went
to the Solaris web site to purchase the media kit for a more current
version of Solaris. Now sun says that the Solaris license is free, but
can you believe they want to charge $75.00 for the media kit? Thats just
crazy - I would pay $35.00 or maybe $40.00, but $75.00 + shipping???

To be fair, they do give you the option to download the solaris CDs
for free. So, here I sit, waiting for the downloads to complete.
