Bart

So, I'm riding BART on an occasional basis these days and I decide
to go online to purchase the discounted tickets.

I connect to www.bart.gov, and they have a link to a location where
you can purchase the tickets online. I follow the link and see that
they have a $32.00 ticket that you can purchase for $30.00 and a $48.00
ticket that you can purchase for $45.00.

I decide to try the $32.00 ticket, so I register and select the ticket
quantity and click "add" to add it to my shopping cart, and I get:

-------------------------
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d'
Type mismatch: 'Cint'
/bart/step1b.asp, line 5
-------------------------

Now, I love microsoft as much as the next guy, but this is ridiculous.

So, I decide to give it one more try. Close the browser, connect to the
site, login, select the quantity, and click add. This time it appears
to work! Hooray!

I go to view my shopping cart, and the ticket is actually in there!
Amazing! I click on "Checkout" to actually buy the ticket.

Are you ready for it?

There is a $1.33 administration fee - so the $32.00 ticket that I am
purchasing for $30.00 actually costs me $31.33! I'm going to save
$0.67. Gotta love it.

I know what you are thinking. "Ahhhh, its probably a $1.33 fee total -
regardless of the number of tickets you buy". I thought that might be
the case too, so I went back and changed the quantity to 3 of the more
expensive tickets. The result was an administration fee of $4.27, which
is at least less than 3 times the fee for an individual $48.00 ticket,
($1.75), but its still stupid.

I give up - I'll just buy tickets at the silly machines.
